The blue Holden Commodore SSZ was spotted by Wangaratta officers heading south on the freeway about 8.30pm on Friday.
Police will be relentless in their efforts to identify the driver of this vehicle
- Sergeant Michael Connors
The highway patrol members had been conducting speed checks and tried to intercept the vehicle, but the driver continued at high speed towards Benalla.
The driver took the Mansfield exit and the car was later found at Benalla, and was seized.
Sergeant Michael Connors said the vehicle was undergoing forensic examination.
It’s not alleged that the car was stolen.
“Police will be relentless in their efforts to identify the driver of this vehicle,” he said.
“We’re not going to give up.
“Driving at that speed, they have shown a total disregard for themselves.
“They haven’t considered the other road users or the pursuing police.”
Sergeant Connors urges members of the public who spotted the vehicle between Wodonga and Benalla, or anyone with information about the driver, to make contact with police.
