A CAR fire at a West Albury boat ramp is the latest such arson attack involving a vehicle. Dramatic images taken at the Kremur Street boat ramp early Wednesday morning show the vehicle fully engulfed by fire. The car had been driven down to the boat ramp and set alight. It took some time for the incident to be noticed and firefighters notified. Crews from the Albury Central Fire Station were alerted about 3.45am. They arrived at the scene 15 minutes later and spent about 20 minutes extinguishing the blaze. The vehicle was removed from the boat ramp by a tow truck. The incident caused a small amount of damage to the ramp. The incident came after a string of car fires in recent weeks, particularly around Springdale Heights towards the end of last year. Strauss Street has proven to be a popular burning ground for criminals, with three such incidents in close proximity in November and December. An old Holden Commodore was torched on the side of the road on December 29. A Lexus sedan was dumped in vacant land off the street on December 14 and destroyed by fire. Another Commodore was also gutted on the street on November 28. Anyone with information can contact police.
