Like many great ideas, Denis France, Guy Corbett and David Pye’s great plan was formulated over a pint.
Beer in hand, the trio decided to source and repair retired postie bikes – Honda CT110s -and enter Horizon Committee’s Great Murray River Postie Bike Adventure to raise money for the Albury Wodonga Cancer Centre.
From February 22 to 24, the trio who will be joined by Mr Corbett’s daughter Ella, will travel hundred of kilometres a day across the alpine region.

Mr France said they had spent months transforming six decrepit bikes into three functioning motobikes. Even so, they aren’t a glamorous ride.
“You only have to ride them around the corner and you get a little bit uncomfortable, so 250k a day for three days on one – I’m not sure how we’ll go,” he said.
Organiser Dick Phillips said 50 riders would have plenty of time to take in scenery, with the bikes lucky to reach 90kmh. He hopes the ride will raise at least $50,000. The team will hold a Bunnings sausage sizzle fundraiser on February 9.
