The visitors dismissed Greta for just 104 and navigated trouble against the new ball to finish in a commanding position at 0-30.
Ryan Lloyd-Williams was the star with 4-21.
“All of our bowlers bowled really well to plans, especially Sam Gladstone, Tom Williams and Ryan Lloyd-Williams,” Benalla captain James Carboon said.
“Getting Greta out for 104 on day one is a perfect start for us and finishing 0-30 puts us in good stead for next week.”
