Temperatures were forecast to reach 42 degrees on Monday, before rising to 44 on Tuesday, 46 on Wednesday, 41 on Thursday and 40 but stormy on Friday.
IN OTHER NEWS
Federation, Wangaratta, Towong, Federa and Indigo councils have all announced free entry to their pools during the heat.
All five Indigo pools will be free to the public on Wednesday from 3pm, with hours to be extended depending on patronage.
While entry will be free at Corryong and Tallangatta pools from Monday to Thursday, 12pm to 8pm.
Wangaratta council is offering free entry to Olympic Pool on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 10am and 8.30pm.
Howlong pool is open from 1pm to 7pm and free for the entire season while Corowa Pool is closed for construction.
All pools in Greater Hume shire will be open until 8pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, normal fees apply.
Albury and Wodonga pool operating hours and costs will remain unchanged.
