The Coolamon export, who has been a regular at Border tennis competitions, has relocated to the region to take on a new coaching venture.
Urbanavicius spent two years as coordinator of the junior high performance program at Kooyong International Tennis Academy, but was eager to get back to his grassroots.
“It challenged me in a fair few ways, so hopefully what I learned there can translate back into a country format,” Urbanavicius said.
“I missed the grit of country kids and the passion country kids attack their sport with. There’s so much untapped potential.
“The tennis culture here has arguably got to be one of the strongest in Australia.
“That’s testament to the other coaches in the region like Phil and Mark Shanahan, Jade Culph and Kate Hargreaves.”
Urbanavicius begins coaching with the newly-formed Border Tennis School from January 29.
