Beer nominated for both Canterbury and also Flemington on Saturday but has opted for the easier assignment.
“I’ve decided to head to Canterbury where she will probably start favourite and gets into a really winnable race,” Beer said.
Gwenneth is coming off a career best performance in the $100,000 Festive Season Sprint (1000m) at Flemington last month.
The five-year-old mare led down the Flemington straight and was only collared in the shadows of the post to finish third, beaten less than a length as a 50/1 shot.
“She only just got run down over that last 20-metres at Flemington,” he said.
“That was in a strong Benchmark 84 and she drops back into a Bechmark 72 at Canterbury.
“If she produces the some form as she did at Flemington it will be good enough to win.
“I’ve decided to go with local apprentice Billy Owen who claims three kilograms, so she drops back to 57 kilograms.
“Another plus is she has had one previous start at Canterbury for one win and I think she will prove hard to beat.”

Gwenneth has struck a small field in the $50,000 Sprint Series Heat 2 (1100m) with only six rivals.
Owen makes the trek to Sydney for two rides with the Richard Freedman-trained Witches his other mount.
Beer said Gwenneth would also target success over the Albury Gold Cup carnival in March.
“Given her speed and that four out of her six career wins have been over 1000m she would definitely be ultra competitive in either The Flat Knacker or City Handicap,” he said.
“She is one of the highest rated sprinters in the area and hard to beat in either of those races over the carnival.”
Gwenneth races is usual leopard print colours with black sleeves and cap.
The mare boasts a handy career record of six wins and six minor placings from 21 career starts for over $150,000 in prizemoney including two city wins.
Beer has about 30 horses in work at his Albury stables.
The young trainer relocated from Mornington last year.
