RSL Victoria membership, marketing and communications manager Brad Swain said the hierarchy was aware of the situation but would not directly influence the outcome.
“It’s up to the sub-branch to follow processes and members to have their voice,” Mr Swain said.
He added that RSL Victoria personnel will attend the extraordinary general meeting where the no-confidence motion will be presented.
“RSL Victoria provides all sub-branches with regular support and this continues for Wodonga RSL,” Mr Swain said.
His comments follow Wodonga sub-branch president Kevyn Williams saying that the head office in Melbourne, known as Anzac House, had been notified of the situation.
Mr Botting said there had been complaints to Anzac House about staffing matters after that had not been resolved by the Wodonga committee of management and that head office personnel had visited Wodonga in relation to those issues.
Mr Williams said there had been contact with Melbourne in relation to corporate governance.
“There’s been no visits from Melbourne in relation to individual cases, other than they’ve had phone calls and they’ve discussed them with the committee,” he said.
Those behind the petition seeking a no-confidence motion, including former executive Ian Deegan, argue the management committee should be removed because it is out of touch with the bulk of the members.
Mr Williams says those upset at the committee are unhappy with changes made to the structure and spending of the sub-branch.
