Trained by Norm Loy, Waiting For A Mate has won both starts since resuming on his home track in mid-December.
Waiting For A Mate has won three of four career starts and is also eligible for the Country Championships qualifier at Albury next month.
“It’s a win-win situation,” Loy said.
“If he gets beat he is still eligible for the Country Championships but if he happens to win we will just go back to Flemington again – there’s nothing wrong with that.”

Waiting For A Mate will contest the $75,000 Benchmark 70 Hcp, (1400m) with Luke Nolen booked to ride.
The four-year-old gelding is quoted a $26-chance in early markets.
Loy said an emphatic victory at Albury earlier this month had prompted him to raise the bar and head to the city.
“He’s coming off a soft win on his home track,” he said.
“I think he will prove ultra competitive, especially with Luke Nolen aboard.
“I’m fairly excited to be heading to Flemington for the first time as a trainer.
“Especially with this horse.
“I was contemplating entering him for the all-grey race last year on Melbourne Cup day but he just wasn’t quite right at the time.”
Waiting For A Mate boasts a handy record of three wins and three minor placing from 10-career starts and just over $50,000 in prizemoney.
The gelding will jump from gate four.
