The special release on Sunday will be named Quick’s Courage – Federation Reserve, which acknowledges the town as the birthplace of Federation.
“It’s a bit of a nod to our nation’s history and the history of Corowa,” he said.
“Quick’s Courage refers to John Quick who paved the way for the People’s Federation.”
At a meeting on July 31, 1893, in Oddfellows Hall at Corowa, Dr John Quick, a delegate from the Bendigo branch of the Australian Natives Association, moved his famous People’s Federation motion, which changed both the direction and pace of Federation and led to Corowa becoming known as the “Birthplace of Federation”.
Mr Schilg said the Federation release was a unique batch.
“It’s something a little different,” Mr Schilg said.
“It’s still a single malt but it’s matured in a bourbon cask followed by a pedro ximénez cask.
“It’s had a bit more than two years in the cask and it’s quite sweet.”
Corowa Whisky and Chocolate will offer the new release whisky for sale from Sunday morning.
It will have live music, Triple J Hottest 100 and burgers.
There will be chocolate tasting, freckle making and whisky sales throughout the weekend.
Sunday Sippers and Whisky Launch runs from 9am to 4pm.
