Lane has spent the past three seasons at Narrandera including coach for the last two .
He is coming off an outstanding season after winning the Jim Quinn medal – the Riverina’s league’s best and fairest award.
Astonishingly, he achieved the feat despite the Eagles enduring a winless season.
Corowa-Rutherglen coach, Marc Almond, said he was delighted to land another prized signature as the Roos’ rebuild gathers momentum.
“We’re rapt to have him back, we obviously lacked key position players last year and Jarred has the ability to play in a variety of roles,” Almond said.
“He is a proven performer at this level, is versatile and won a league medal last season.
“He can play in the ruck or up forward and he will add another dynamic to our forward-half and it’s pleasing to land someone of his quality back at the club.”
MORE OVENS AND MURRAY NEWS
Melbourne based recruits James Atkinson and Rhys Andrews shouldered most of the Roos’ ruck duties last season.
The pair won’t be returning to the John Foord Oval this season.
“Obviously Jarrod can play in the ruck and alongside Dean Druce and Jack Baker,” he said.
“Baker is a local guy who missed last year with a knee injury and has had a huge pre-season.
“We feel he can play centre half-back, centre half-forward and ruck as well and will be like another recruit.”
Lane recently relocated to Albury with work commitments and was looking forward to testing himself in the Ovens and Murray.
“It will be interesting to see if I’ve still got it at that higher level,” Lane said.
“I’ve played a lot of footy at Corowa and have some good friends there and hopefully we can improve this season.”
“We are really excited what we have been able to do with our list over the summer,” Almond said.
“We know we are coming from a long way back and by no means are we where we want to be in the next couple of years.
“But we have made significant inroads with our list and in an ideal world we are a couple of players away from where we want to be.
“But if you had of said to us at the start of last year that you are going to get Tregear, Pretto, Davies, Brook and now Lane – we would have taken that every time.
“We feel we have added depth as well as some top-end talent.”
The Roos finished ninth last year with a 3-15 record.
