Nine athletes have been nominated for the 2019 award.
Nominees include footballer Alyce Parker, who captained the All-Australian under-18 team and was recently drafted by the GWS Giants, and up-and-coming swimmer Zoe Deacon.
Albury-Wodonga Lady Bandits and Victorian rising star Casey Ardern has also been nominated, as has boxing sensation George Webb-Rose.
Sailing star Laura Thomson has been nominated again, while softball player Lachlan Spinelli also earned a nomination.
Cyclist Zach Owen, hockey and athletics star Summer Sutherland, and downhill mountain bike rider Matt Carter round out the list.
Profiles of each nominee will appear in The Border Mail before the winner is announced on March 15.
