While rival clubs have been bracing themselves for the reigning premier to pick up a big-name recruit, German is content backing in the club’s youth.
“Unless someone falls out of the sky we will go with what we have got,” German said.
“Everyone is pretty much locked in by now.
“Our seconds finished on top last year and our thirds were around the mark so we have a bit of depth.
“We'll try and utilise that.”
Albury has had a quiet off-season with Lachie Tiziani, Lachie Taylor-Nugent, Cooper Page and Eddy Ziebarth set to replace Charles Gaylard, Michael Thompson, Daniel Cross, Rhys King and Matt Walker.
Former wingman Jake Page will play for Coburg but has nominated the Tigers as his second club.
Tiziani will make a delayed start to the season after undergoing a knee reconstruction at Greater Western Sydney.
The Tigers are banking on injured duo Alex Jones and Erish Uthayakumar returning from serious leg injuries.
Albury blooded a handful of youngsters last season including Tom O’Brien, Fraser Duryea, Jackson Carmody, Riley Bice, Ben Kelly and Ben McIntosh.
“Hopefully we can produce a couple of Rhys Kings this year,” German said.
“There is some talent there so that’s been my focus since the start of the year.”
Wangaratta is set to start the season as flag favourites after luring former premiership stars Josh Porter and Ben Speight back to the club.
