AFTER some amazing feedback from the inaugural Love and Light Wedding Festival in 2018 it is back this year on February 16 and 17. You can experience all the fun and creativity, not to mention some delicious food and wine, in some of the most beautiful settings in the Rutherglen region.

Love and Light was born when festival director and founder Georgie James saw a gap in the market for an event like this that allows couples to plan their own bespoke special occasion to suit their personalities and budget.

We asked Georgie to give us the lowdown on why this wedding festival tops the rest. Here are her top five reasons.

1. Not just one venue but a festival trail

This year the event spans across five atmospheric venues expertly showcasing the 35 vendors.

“This gives visitors the opportunity to go out and explore and see what the venues are like set-up for an event,” Georgie said.

“They can get a feel for it and try out the food and wine as they mosey around.”

Corowa Whisky and Chocolate, St Leonard’s Vineyard, Springhurst Butter Factory, John Gehrig Wines and Tuileries play host to the festival as they showcase what they can bring to special events.

While beneficial to visitors, multiple venues also give the stand-holders great freedom in the way they display their wares to best inspire festival goers.

“They are not confined to a three metre by three metre space so they can do something amazing if they want to,” Georgie said.

2. Learn something new at the Floral Workshop

In another first of its kind for the region, this year the Springhurst butter Factory in Rutherglen will play host to a floral workshop that is both fun and practical.

Designed for everyone from the DIY bride to an aspiring floral stylist, the workshop will be run by experienced florist Carla and her team from the Rutherglen florist and Thistle & Fern Florist in Wodonga.

Let Carla and her floral professionals take you through different flower arrangements including a cocktail table vase arrangement, a hanging installation and a bar piece.

3. A weekend away that will also tick off your wedding to-do list

As the event is spread across the weekend of February 16 and 17, Georgie says it makes great sense to come and spend the night and turn it into a mini-break.

The runaway bridal fashion event is scheduled for the Saturday night and the wedding trail runs Sunday from 10am to 4pm, making a stopover ideal.

Some of the best accommodation spots in the region have come on board to offer great stay over deals with something to suit all tastes.

“Come and immerse yourself and enjoy the weekend and the region,” Georgie said.

4. It encourages wedding creativity, personality and individuality

Love and Light is not your average wedding festival.

The different venues, Georgie says, inspire the vendors to collaborate together to catch someone’s eye.

“The creativity of the vendors gets festival goers to see what is possible, inspiring them to create a day that says this is us,” she said.

The festival she says has been designed with a lot of heart, soul and creativity which in turns gives couples the tools to create a wedding that delivers a huge ‘wow’ factor.

5. A unique blend of artisans and vendors

The Rutherglen region has a plethora of great wedding suppliers and artisans who take great pride in the goods and services they provide.

“This festival brings together the most creative wedding suppliers in this region,” Georgie said.

This year Georgie says they have bought together a really interesting bunch of businesses including Bubbles and Wot Caravan Bar, Into the Woods Glamping, Love and Elope Co., The White Tree Music Vidography and Photography and even a supplier who provides games for the big day, S Nichols Custom Event Hire.
