Detective Sergeant Graeme Simpfendorfer, of Wodonga Crime Investigation Unit, said police believed the incident, which occurred about 2am, was targeted towards the Jason Circuit address.
CCTV footage appeared to show petrol being poured on the uninsured green Holden Commodore sedan before the person ignited it and ran away.
Residents helped the Country Fire Authority in putting out the fire, but the car was significantly damaged.

“We believe people in our community will know who this person is and they will know the motive behind it,” Detective Sergeant Simpfendorfer said.
“Arson or any fire at this time of year, we have enough problems … with natural causes or infrastructure failures that we don't need arson to come into this as well, so it’s extremely disappointing.”
