Eighteen clubs from across southern Australia will compete in a 15-round season, eyeing a spot in a four-round finals series.
Matches start on March 29.
“NBL1 will be the premier league in Australia after the NBL and WNBL, showcasing Australia’s best emerging talent and many other professional players,” NBL chief executive Jeremy Loeliger said.
Albury-Wodonga, Ballarat, Bendigo, Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence, Dandenong, Diamond Valley, Eltham, Frankston, Geelong, Hobart Huskies, Kilsyth, Knox, Melbourne, North West Thunder/Launceston (co-licensees), Nunawading, Ringwood, Sandringham and Waverley hold inaugural licences.
The competition replaces the South East Australian Basketball League.
Meanwhile, the Bandits have secured Southern Vale Homes as their major sponsor.
