The runners, walkers and those lucky enough to get a pram ride from Albury’s QEII Square to Wodonga’s Junction Place ranged in age from three weeks to 83 years.

City2City committee chairperson Michelle Hudson said early feedback indicated the new finishing area, made necessary by High Street roadworks, had worked well.

“It’s certainly something that we’ll weigh up in the future whether it might become a permanent finish line for us,” she said. 

“People hung around and there was plenty to do.”

Brett Ellis, of Bacchus Marsh, was the first male to finish the 10 kilometre event, clocking 31 minutes, 31 seconds while first female Echuca’s Tarli Bird recorded 36:46.

The 7.5km run saw wins to Nathan Stoate (25:02) and Lauren Preston (31:25).

Mrs Hudson said entries in the junior and the walk and talk events had increased by 10 per cent each, with the latter category comprising 40 per cent of the field.

“The walk and talk is aptly named, we think,” she said.

“This is an opportunity to get out with the community and celebrate their cross border local health service. It was just another fantastic show of support.”
