Carla Clare ($4), driven by Cameron Maggs, handed Livermore the highlight of his 40-year career in horses, holding off Ned Pepper and Hellen Scott’s Halle Maruia to claim the feature.
Pre-race favourite Shadow Reign ($2.30) was fifth.

“This mare has run two or three places in the city, but that’s the biggest win I’ve had,” Livermore said.
“I came third in a Wagga Cup with another horse a few years ago.
“It was a really good drive, he had a dip for the lead and had to ease back and get the best trail he could.
“The main aim in the next six months is to get a winner in the city.”
