An off-duty police officer witnessed the ute sporting red P plates exiting the Havelock Street-Elgin Boulevard roundabout deliberately over-accelerating and causing resultant excessive noise and smoke.
The “fish-tailing” ute left skid marks for about 100 metres across both lanes as he travelled in a southerly direction behind the police station.
“As the driver drove past an off-duty police member he couldn’t help but have proud grin at his actions,” Leading Senior Constable Neil Hobbs said.
“Police are not only disgusted with the driver’s dangerous actions given the time of day, with moderate to heavy traffic with motorists on their way home to enjoy the weekend with their families, but doing it behind the Wodonga Police Station means we’re obviously not dealing with a rocket scientist.
“Police will be speaking to the driver within the next couple of days with the view of sending his vehicle on a well earned 30-day holiday without the driver.”
