The pair have crossed from rival club Murray Magpies.
Spiders’ coach Beau Packer said it was an unexpected bonus to get two late signings.
“We needed to boost our depth and Alex and Josh will give us a lot more flexibility,” Packer said.
“They add a bit of height and size as well and can both play key position if necessary.
“I’m happy with our midfield depth but we probably lacked that bit of height at both ends of the ground.
“It certainly will make us a lot more competitive against those better sides.”
Popko and Senior played predominantly as defenders for the Magpies but could have different roles.
“Depending on the opposition but Josh will play down back but he can also mop up across half-back and pinch-hit in the middle,” he said.

“Alex will most likely play forward and give us another strong marking option.”
Popko and Senior join Aaron Spargo (Wodonga Raiders), Josh Garland, Daniel Sharp and Brad Fyfe who are both returning to the club as major signings.
Matt McDonald has also been training strongly after a knee injury forced him to miss most of last season.
Alex Dilger, Manny Hughes, Charlie Hamilton and Will McCormack are the biggest losses.
