Police and NSW Maritime personnel spent two hours looking along the river between the Kremur Street boat ramp in West Albury and Noreuil Park where Mr Pandit disappeared into the water on January 9.
Inspector Scott Russell, of Albury police, said the search had been unsuccessful but there were plans to try again when conditions change.
"I'd hope in a month's time we can get a police boat out there again and continue to search," he said.
"We will also be in contact with the water authorities to check when they may be lowering the river and then we'll base our next search around possible lowering of the Murray River to allow a bit more access to the banks."
Inspector Russell slated speculation Mr Pandit may have faked his disappearance as "vicious rumours".
"You've got a family and friends out there who are grieving, we certainly investigated that Mr Pandit has drowned in the Murray River and as I said we've conducted our inquiries to reassure those lines of inquiries have been closed," he said.
"They are rumours and they are vicious and people shouldn't sit behind the keyboard and put those rumours out there because at this point in time they are not true."
Inspector Russell said police had liaised with Mr Pandit's sister and brother-in-law and notified the coroner of the disappearance.
The search saw Albury, Corowa and Mulwala police comb river banks from Noreuil to 1½-kilometres below the boat ramp.
