Youth Mental Health First Aid is a two-day program facilitated by Albury Wodonga Health, teaching adults how to assist adolescents who are experiencing a mental health crisis.
Nearly 40 people received training when the first program was run last year.
Events like the upcoming Big Splash on March 6 are among the ways headspace receives funding.
Karina Kerr, headspace Albury-Wodonga centre manager, said in the last six months 289 counselling appointments had been funded from donations.
"The Youth Mental Health First Aid is also important because it's targeting settings where we know people are dealing with youth regularly," she said.

"We ran the first round last year in Indigo Valley and Albury, and wanted to expand it."
Big Splash organising committee member Stephen Mamouney wanted to raise awareness of where the community's money goes when they sign up for the event.
"We run this event at the Albury Swim Centre, but we want people from Wodonga to support it - kids on both sides of the border need headspace," he said.
"We are so fortunate to have the facility."
Mr Mamouney said registrations had been tracking well with two weeks remaining before Big Splash.
"We have a range of new races and hope to see more people join in," he said.
Big Splash has raised more than $75,000 for headspace and Survivors of Suicide and Friends in the past five years.
At many major youth events, headspace has a strong presence, with youth reference group member Josh Rickard on hand to speak with people at Saturday's Rainbow Ball.
"The vibe on the night was one of the most amazing things I have experienced," Mr Rickard said.
"For the youth there to be themselves and experience no judgement was amazing."
The Youth Mental Health First Aid training sessions are being held at Gateway Health in Wangaratta on the weekend of March 2 and at the Henty Library on the weekend of March 16.
Places in the sessions are limited - contact 02 6055 9555 to register.
