Can't see the value
I cannot understand why Albury Council has decided to develop the old flour mill site. The site has sat there for years as most developers could not see any profit in developing it, yet Albury Council can see $150 million in future income in development costs coming to Albury.

Remember the profit Wodonga Council saw in the Logic site in Wodonga? The value of that site is still on the council books as unachievable.
Albury Council has a record of financial mismanagement, look how they let JetGo leave a $250,000 debt as they did not ground a jet until at least part of that debt was paid, the fiasco of the Lavington Sports Club footy grounds, another mismanagement in contract specification and a huge over-run in costs.
Council needs to remember the costs and over-run in costs are paid by the ratepayers.

View of the masses?
I note the regular publication of Peter MacLeod-Miller’s far socialist left repetitive political thoughts to this newspaper segment. As such in view of the frequent and repetitive content of his contribution I would be surprised if his articles now attract a great deal of reader interest, also to add to this again I pose a question to satisfy a general curiosity. As Peter MacLeod-Miller usually titles his penning as Archdeacon/Rector of t Matthew's Anglican Church, Albury, do his comments represent the views of his congregation?

Bills are misleading
There seems to be a mismatch between those who need essential services and those who supply them.
I telephoned to check on cost of supply and was told by the very enthusiastic salesman that he could offer me a “good deal.” I replied that I was not buying a used car and was not interested in a “deal” but that I was an aged pensioner who needed to check cost of an essential service.
My latest account is impossible for me to understand. Really big print on page one shows an amount if paid after the due date and another amount for pay on time discount. I had to turn the page and find in small print the actual cost of supply. Where and when in all this was the GST calculated?
The elderly and infirm need energy supply to stay out of hospital and maybe even to stay alive. All customers are entitled to an account which is not misleading.

On health, be clear
The health system and private cover needs a clear and honest structure.
There are too many surgeons who demand up-front fees /charges that are way above the private cover and make private insurance worthless. This way of charging is cruel as it targets people who need treatment and their fear of not getting immediate treatment.
Top private cover should cover one for operations and treatment and it often does not if you choose the wrong people. Is it worth having private cover at all if an up-front charge of $10,000 is demanded by a surgeon above the private cover? We need clear pricing and clarity for people with private cover that does not cover some specialists who charge well above the rates covered.
