But it won't stop the Australian cricketing great from testing out the Henty batsmen when he makes a cameo for Walbundrie in Sunday's Pink Stumps Day at Walbundrie.
"I’ll give it a shot and can still roll the arm over pretty well," McGrath said.
"I’m looking forward to getting out to the ground and seeing the talent produced by the bush."
Growing up at Narromine, the 48-year-old admitted he particularly enjoyed returning to country towns in his role with the McGrath Foundation.
Between 500 and 1000 people are expected to turn out for the one-day match.
"I always love getting back out to the bush – this is where I grew up and where I feel most comfortable," he said.
"Sport is something that brings the community together in small country towns and I still have very fond memories of growing up on the farm, but coming into town to play sport.
"We’ve heard there’s a lot of people heading to the Walbundrie Tigers' Pink Stumps Day.
"The people of Walbundrie have an amazing spirit.
"Drought is hitting pretty hard and growing up on a farm, I know just what that means and how it feels, so I’m so touched the people of Walbundrie are fundraising for the foundation."
Walbundrie president Mason Collins said there had been a groundswell of support for the fundraiser.
"We haven't got a clue how many people will come along," Collins said.
"We've heard whispers we could get 500 and 1000 so we're betting on a pretty big crowd."
Pink Stumps Day plays a vital fundraising role to help achieve the foundation’s mission of ensuring every family affected by breast cancer has access to a free McGrath Breast Care Nurse.
Sunday's match starts at 10am.
The $20 entry for adults includes lunch and afternoon tea, while high school students will be charged $10 and primary school students are free.
In CAW Hume matches on Saturday, Holbrook play Burrumbuttock, Walla meet Lockhart, Culcairn take on Rand and TRYC do battle with Osborne.
