MITCH Beer may not have a runner in the Country Championships this year.
But the young trainer will be still looking to gain some consolation on his home track with Vin Du Jour.
The three-year-old filly showed promise in her only two starts last preparation although her manners cost her on both occasions.
"I rate her as one of the most progressive horses that I have got in the stable," Beer said.
"She got herself beat last start at Wodonga through her immaturity."
Vin Du Jour was an impressive trial winner at Wagga recently in preparation for today's assignment.
"Her trial win at Wagga with blinkers on was exceptional," he said.
"They ran good time and Bulala which finished behind her is in the Country Championships.
"So it is good as trial form as you can have going into a maiden.
"Barrier 12 is a concern but we won't be going back and riding her for luck."
