The visitors were on the board in the second minute and maintained the ascendancy throughout.
Twin City had a chance to draw level and missed a penalty when trailing 3-0, but were simply outclassed.
Matt Durand, Damon Romandini, George Kapralos, Nick Tsantlogianis, Nick Panagopoulos and Umut Ince were the goal-scorers.
Wanderers coach Shaun Wilhelm admitted Monash City was a very well-drilled and structured outfit.
"They scored in the second minute and that put us on the back foot, but their first three goals came from our errors," Wilhelm said.
"Against good opponents like that, they took their opportunities and we didn't.
"They didn't win 18 games and bang in 80 goals last year for nothing.
"They're flying and they'll be a tough side to beat.
"We thought we had a tall side, but they're massive and they had a striker that every touch went in the back of the net.
"It's just a different class to what's around here."
Other soccer news:
Phil Tester and Cayne Wilhelm impressed in the middle, while Tyson Mason was solid in defence.
"We took some positives out of it and what we need to work on," Wilhelm added.
"It was more of a good hit-out and we'll get ourselves ready for round one."
Twin City has another practice match locked in against State League One outfit St Kilda next weekend and will also have a squad contesting the Andronicos Cup pre-season tournament at Jelbart Park.
