Inquest will look at teen's fatal crash in Albury involving stolen car

Shaun Crighton, 19, died when the stolen car he was driving hit a tree on East Street, near Albury hospital, on September 4, 2017.

Police launched a critical investigation immediately after the incident, due to the car being stolen and because officers had been alerted to the incident.

The vehicle had been reported stolen from Wodonga and Albury officers were alerted over the NSW Police radio system.

They said the car was not being pursued.

An internal police investigation was completed about 12 months ago.

Deputy state coroner Derek Lee will examine the circumstances of Mr Crighton’s death in Albury court from March 12

The inquest is expected to run for three days.
