Maskiell will make the trek to Wangaratta for the one ride while Call Me Handsome will be the sole runner from the Gelagotis stable over the two-day carnival.
Call Me Handsome looks to be the testing material in the $100,000 feature.
The Irish import was narrowly beaten last-start at Caulfield in Listed company.
Stable manager, Manny Gelagotis, said the stable was always keen to launch a raid on Victoria's country cup circuit.
"We have a won about a dozen country cups and we don't mind travelling if we think we can win," Gelagotis said.
"We have won the Wangaratta Cup previously with Module and it is significant prizemoney on offer.
"He has got a good CV is rock hard fit and on paper it does look a nice race for him.
"It's going to be hot again on Sunday but this horse has come from Hong Kong so the heat and humidity won't worry him."
Maskiell replaces Craig Williams in the saddle who has an awkward ally to overcome after drawing 11.
The former champion Victorian apprentice has one previous ride on Call Me Handsome when unplaced in the Chester Manifold Stakes in mid-February.
Call Me Handsome had his first try over 2000m last start at Caulfield but has won races up to 1700m and has been allotted 59kg.
"He is in really good form and I thought it was a brave run at his first try over 2000m last-start," Gelagotis said.
"He goes up a bit in weight after only carrying 55kg.
"I think Jason will be nice and positive from the awkward draw and it looks like being a strong staying test but he always races best when racing close to the pace.
"But he does look well placed and should prove hard to beat."
