The 2019 Rutherglen Tastes of Art Prize this weekend will exhibit 488 artworks in the Rutherglen Memorial Hall, up from 354 last year.
Rutherglen Tastes of Art Prize spokeswoman Joy Schmidt said there had been an overwhelming response.
"Entries have come from Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Wagga, Bendigo, Ballarat, Wangaratta, Deniliquin, Cobram, Yarrawonga and from throughout the North East," she said.
"They are high-quality artworks across the categories with mixed media and work on paper being the most popular (341 entries).
"There are 113 entries in the photography section and 34 sculptures."
The People’s Choice winner will receive $250.
A new Youth Award winner will score $250 while highly commended in each category will earn $200.
Exhibition prize winners will be announced at a gala opening cocktail party tomorrow from 6.30pm.
Guests will have the first chance to view and buy the artworks.
Hosted by Arts Rutherglen, the Rutherglen Tastes of Art Prize runs alongside the Tastes of Rutherglen food and wine festival.
The art exhibition will be open from Saturday until Monday, 10am to 4pm.
