Gibson, who turns 21 next week, will release the first track from her debut EP, The Great Unknown, on Friday.
The album itself will be released on April 13.
Having recently returned from Nashville in Tennessee where she spent 12 months writing and recording The Great Unknown, Gibson said it was great to be back in the family fold.
The eldest of five siblings, Gibson said her time away from home gave her a fresh perspective.
She said her first EP - which had five tracks - was "very autobiographical".
"One of the songs is about saying goodbye to a small town to move to a big place," she said.
"I speak very fondly of the small town in the verses but living in a little town did have some troubles come with it.
"I write about having to leave a small town to appreciate it a bit more.
"I did write very honestly about relatable issues."
The former Galen Catholic College student's EP features rich vocals and upbeat tempos that draw on her influences from Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert and Kelsea Ballerini.
Gibson said Nashville had been an amazing experience.
"Any night of the week you can step into any bar and there are amazing songwriters and singers performing," Gibson said.
"You really just have to believe in yourself; there is room for all of us in the industry."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Born-and-bred in Wangaratta, Gibson said she had been a cover artist since the age of 14.
"I started singing lessons at 10," she said.
"I had begged my parents for singing lessons and they'd said, 'When you can read all of the lyrics, you can have singing lessons'.
"I used to busk out the front of cafes from when I was 12."
Gibson will do a promotional tour and regular gigs in Australia before returning to Nashville in future.
She said she played a lot of pub gigs, B&S balls and rodeos in Victoria and southern NSW.
Gibson's dad Shane said his daughter had an interest in singing for as long as he could remember.
"This kid could sing before she could talk!" he said.
"There was always something there; she wasn't much older than two when she asked for a karaoke machine."
Gibson will host a launch party for The Great Unknown EP at Rutherglen on April 13.
