The pair have been reunited with Montanna, 15, joining her older sister, Mackensy, 17, in Calder United's under-19s outfit for the 2019 Victorian NPLW season.

Mackensy signed with the side last year and got some experience at senior level, while Montanna played a key role in Albury City's AWFA league and cup double before making the step up.

Calder United won their opening two games against Alamein (2-1) and South Melbourne (3-2).

"I'm in the under-19s for development because our senior side is full of new players," Mackensy said.

"My coach Ian (Williamson) has been really supportive and wants to help me get better.

"It's a very different competition, it's a much higher intensity than it is here.

"Montanna has found her feet very quickly as well."

It's a big year for Mackensy, who's completing her HSC at Xavier High School, as well as juggling her increasing soccer commitments.

But her club and school have made things easier.

"The likes of (senior players) Catherine Zimmerman and Alex Sinclair have been really supportive, but all my teammates do the same," she added.

Montanna admitted her game has vastly improved in the short time she's been at her new club.

"You learn new things like patterns of play," she said.

"My game has improved a lot already, especially creating and building up with passes.

"Your first touch has to be a lot better and you also have to have a lot of strength to be able to hold off other players."

Montanna hasn't been fazed by the huge step up either.

"We were going to Melbourne three times a week for pre-season training, but now it's twice a week and for gameday on Saturday, Sunday or Monday," she said.

"Every time we go to training we have to leave early from school, but I reckon the trip seems to get shorter every time."

The girls take on NTC at Knox Regional Football Centre at 2pm today.
