A UNIT in East Wodonga was badly damaged by fire late on Friday night with a neighbouring resident taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

The unit in Milos Boulevard was unoccupied when the fire started about 10.50pm.
The elderly neighbour was still in hospital on Saturday morning when fire investigators were due to visit the scene.
The roof of the unit was extensively damaged in the fire.
“There is partial damage to the address,” Detective James Howarth from Wodonga Police said.
“The fire is still under investigation at this stage.
“We are not ruling anything out at this stage.
“It’s only early stages.”
The fire is believed to have started in the front corner of the Housing Commission property.
