Investigators scoured a unit and driveway at the Mate Street complex on Monday morning.
Officers had been called to the property about 1.15am following reports of a break-in or home invasion.
Multiple crime scene officers collected evidence from the area over several hours later in the morning.
Detectives also spoke to nearby residents and are continuing to investigate.
A Holden Commodore which appeared to have a smashed window was towed from a driveway after being examined for fingerprints.
The vehicle also appeared to have a false modified number plate attached to the front end.
Neighbours were reluctant to speak to the media about what had occurred.
Some expressed concern about the high levels of crime near the units.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
