Works have started in upgrading parking under the trees on Noreuil Parade.
Next month, a brick retaining wall will be built at the back of Riverdeck Café.
It involve some road closures along Noreuil Parade directly behind the cafe and Mitta Mitta Canoe Club.
From May, a new car park will be built behind the café, providing 36 new car spaces as well as additional bike parking.
A temporary road access will enable alternative parking when construction is happening.
Riverdeck Café, the playground and foreshore will remain open.
Café owner Alex Smit said extra parking would make a big difference during busy times.
“It’s fantastic that our beautiful park is so popular," he said.
"But during peak times there can be a parking squeeze so these improvements will make it easier for visitors to park right next to the foreshore and be able to enjoy all of the area’s attractions with ease."

Mayor Kevin Mack said the works would continue major improvements already completed in the area.
“It’s great to see so many families enjoying the improvements to the playground, picnic settings and paths, and the extra parking will make it even easier for people to access these facilities,” he said.
“We do understand that there will be some inconvenience to visitors while the work takes place.
"But all of the facilities will remain open and we thank people in advance for their patience as we work to deliver an even better foreshore for everyone to enjoy.”
Even more works are planned in the riverside area of Albury.
Design work on a $4.7 million upgrade of a section of the river behind Albury Swim Centre is underway ahead of anticipated completion in mid-2021.
Proposed features include a boardwalk along the river, jetty access and mooring point, picnic facilities, structures and better car parking.
