The latest beneficiary of the unprecedented financial largesse from the "poles and wires" sell-off is an upgrade of a key trucking route from the Victoria-NSW border to Morundah in the far north of the recently created Federation Council area.
Liberal candidate Justin Clancy, who is poised for a comfortable victory in his maiden election campaign, made the announcement of the latest road project in his electorate late last week.
The area earmarked for the road works is near Buraja, north of Corowa.
"The Fixing Country Roads program is one of the largest undertakings ever seen across regional NSW and these new projects will mean we have 302 individual upgrades either completed or being delivered," Mr Clancy said.
In comparison, none of his rivals including Labor and the Greens have made a single funding commitment towards a project in the Albury electorate during the campaign to date.
Four years ago the big ticket items for the outgoing member for Albury, Greg Aplin, was an $11 million upgrade of the Riverina Highway between Albury and Lake Hume and redevelopments of hospitals at Holbrook, Culcairn and Tumbarumba.
The funding windfalls are putting pressure on council to deliver the projects with many being in the pipeline for years.
"It's very pleasing for council to receive this (latest) significant funding," Federation general manager Adrian Butler said.
"Council has Federation Way as a major upgrade priority and it's a significant north-south arterial through the council area linking from the Hume Highway in the south near Wangaratta to the Newell at Morundah.
"Around 50 per cent of the vehicles are heavy vehicles and this funding will go towards continuing to improve pavement quality and road width."
