Their new act, King Jeremy, launched at the SS&A Club mid-month to an enthusiastic crowd.
Frontman Glenn Whitling said he was blown away by the response to their Albury show.
"There is a massive audience for the type of show we're bringing to the Border," he said.
"People came up from Melbourne, Deniliquin and Finley as well as from around town.
"People who have seen Pearl Jam live were putting us up with the top Pearl Jam tribute shows."
Whitling takes on the persona, energy and voice of the legendary Edward Louis Severson III, better known as Eddie Vedder.
Whitling's soulful, baritone style emulates Vedder beautifully.
Whitling, well-known on the Border for both his music and broader community work, said the concept had been in the pipeline for a long time.
"This is something I've been wanting to do for many years," he said.
"I can't wait to bring Eddie Vedder to the stage, Pearl Jam are such an important and special band to so many people."
OTHER ENTERTAINMENT NEWS:
Whitling, who has been a Mungabareena mental health worker for three years and in the disability sector for two decades, said music was his ultimate outlet.
"I'd be lost without it," Whitling said.
"The biggest buzz in life is being on stage."
Having performed on stage around the Border over 25 years, Whitling said the grunge genre had always appealed to him.
He said his mum was a singing teacher with command of every musical style.
"I've done everything from opera to heavy metal," he said.
"But grunge was what is was all about for me.
"Even my 10-year-old knows every Pearl Jam song but over 14 months that's all the kids have heard!"
King Jeremy will perform a special MTV Unplugged Tribute at The Bended Elbow in Albury on Sunday night.
Guitarist Craig Rodgers said the group looked forward to performing the unplugged show.
"Pearl Jam became famous for their 1992 MTV Unplugged Show," Rodgers said.
"The idea is to offer both sides of the Pearl Jam experience."
King Jeremy has already been booked for a private Melbourne function next month.
