Lauren Weeding was expecting any time, with Wodonga hospital just a few hundred metres from the venue at Les Cheesley Oval.
O'Connor had earlier scored 25 runs from 70 balls in posting yet another half-century opening stand with Matt Sharp.
The pair shared six in a red-hot patch from round 11.
"You have to give credit to North, they were the better team over the three days (of the grand final series)," captain Sam Harris said.
"It's disappointing, but it's not the end of the world."
Lavington will rue the fact no player passed 34 after Matt Tom (33), Matt Sharp (31), O'Connor and Darcy I'Anson (25), Nathan Brown (22), Brad Dalbosco (19) and Harris himself (17) all made starts.
It was Daryl Tuffey's last game after an international career.
