Taking on the Waverley Falcons away from home, the Bandits wrapped up the game 64-58.
Exciting WNBL point guard Nat Hurst starred in her first game for the Bandits, while new player Jessie Edwards stood up to the challenge against WNBL and Waverley player Carley Mijovic.
Coach Jackson said despite the round one win, there was still plenty of room for improvement for the Bandits.
"We're obviously really happy with the outcome of the game and we've got a lot of stuff we have to clean up," Jackson said.
"To come up against such a quality team as Waverley in our first game and to beat them at their house was very encouraging, because we have a lot of improvement left in us.
"Everyone really stepped up in one way or another.
"Nat Hurst is the ultimate professional, and I think in this league, she's without a doubt the best point guard, and we definitely got that out of her.
"We've just got to be able to gel together now and I think the next big thing for us is getting more chemistry going."
Jackson added that it was a bit of a change experiencing the game from the sidelines.
"I felt like I needed to be out there playing but the girls definitely had it under control," Jackson said.
"It's definitely very different being on the sidelines."
