The twice daily service has been operating since July but the Border Rail Action Group say numbers haven't picked up.
And they are urging residents to jump on board while a discounted price is being offered, or risk losing the service.
Although the NSW TrainLink couldn't confirm statistics until the trail was over a spokesperson said the numbers "aren't what we would like".
BRAG executive member Dennis Toohey said the group is concerned for the future of connectivity between the two regions if the special return price of $20 doesn't increase numbers.
"From the trial's outset BRAG said it would take time, but now eight months on our concerns are heightened by continuing low support levels," Mr Toohey said.
"BRAG is seeking from releasing its views an increase in publicity about the trial and the role is has in furthering connectivity within the Murray-Riverina region."
The group are not only encouraging people to use the service but to see some improvements during the trail period.
These improvements include an alignment of coach fares with NSW TrainLink's OPAL system, remove the necessity for cash with the introduction of Eftpos machines and on-board surveying of passengers.
"BRAG's support continues but some operational changes appear to be necessary," Mr Toohey said.
"'The group also offers to work with NSW TrainLink in developing the survey and promoting it to its members,"
A NSW TrainLink spokesperson said the service was extended until May 1 with added stops and a new 25 per cent discounted pricing change.
"NSW TrainLink continues to monitor customer demand and feedback during the current extension period and encourages customers travelling between Wagga Wagga and Albury to use the service," the spokesperson said.
