Booth was given a severe reprimand by the Ovens and Murray tribunal following an incident during the second term of last weekend's clash at Albury Sportsground.
His unblemished record and guilty plea was taken into consideration by the tribunal during a hearing in Albury on Wednesday night.
Wangaratta Rovers submitted character references from former coaches Ross Hill and Paul Maher.
Booth was originally offered a two-week ban but the Hawks opted to take the case to the tribunal.
The utility was sent-off following the clash with Mackie with Hawk coach Daryn Cresswell later claiming it changed the match.
Booth was booked by field umpire Graeme Hughes.
Wangaratta Rovers will look to end their losing streak when they take on Corowa-Rutherglen on Saturday.
