The first-born child to Simon and Alice Killeen now calls "Park View" home.
Adelaide, 13 weeks, is the eighth generation to live on the property west of Rutherglen and the sixth generation to live in the same family homestead.
Mr Killeen said while it might be hard to prove the family connection with one place was an Australian record, it was certainly unusual.
"The family bought the block in 1864 and has been here since," Mr Killeen said.
"To have eight generations in 160 years living in the one place is pretty unique."
Mr Killeen said his family came to Rutherglen to try their luck during the Gold Rush.
He said the brick homestead was built in 1902 after the original house burned down a year before.
"The first house was at the bottom of the hill but on the same block of land," Mr Killeen said.
"Six generations have now lived in the brick house on the hill."
Ms Killeen, who is a seventh generation South Australian, said that naming their daughter, Adelaide Margaret, was a relatively simple process.
She said it reflected family ties and having grown up in the Adelaide Hills.
"Our Adelaide is an eighth-generation South Australian but she was never going to live there," she said.
"We both liked the name Adelaide and Margaret is my grandmother's name."

Ms Killeen recently framed a photograph of eight-day-old Simon and three generations of his Stanton and Killeen descendants, which was published in The Border Mail on May 29, 1986.
"Chris (Simon's dad) and Norm (Simon's grandfather) had Simon pegged as a winemaker from the day he was born," she said.
Seventh-generation winemaker, Mr Killeen had branched out on his own as Simao and Co Wines.
The couple will plant a vineyard on the property within 12 months.
"This is our forever home," Ms Killeen said.
