The sight of dancing beer drinkers in lycra and blow up flamingos on the back of a truck may have been confusing for ye olde Beechworth of the 19th century, but it was all part of the fun at this year's Golden Horseshoes Festival.

Hundreds of people packed the streets for Saturday's annual parade, celebrating not only the history of the town, but its current residents and businesses.
The team from Bridge Road Brewers dancing in lycra and a guitar player on the back of the Billson's Brewery truck represented the beer of the region, old-time costumes from the Freeman on Ford B&B group paid tribute to the past, and children from the Beechworth Community Child Care Centre and Beechworth Chain Gang bicycle club ensured the future was also involved.
A clear, sunny day with temperatures in the mid-20s was perfect to attract a big crowd.
The annual Easter festival began on Good Friday and continues through the weekend, and will finish on Easter Monday with the Wooragee Easter Market and Gardener's Fun Park.
