Lavington caned the premiers by 71 points in round two with the Tigers bouncing back in a 92-point demolition of Wodonga on Saturday.
"The Luke and Shaun Dalys, Joel Mackies, they were the disappointed ones," German said.
"They took it fairly personally."
Shaun Daly was best on ground against the Bulldogs after a typically wholehearted display.
As he so often does, the former coach didn't do anything spectacular, but he was Mr Perpetual Motion, getting to as many contests as possible.
Meanwhile, Wodonga coach Zac Fulford said his players have a number of areas to address, ahead of Thursday's annual Anzac Day clash with fierce rivals, Wodonga Raiders.
"Our skill level and the way we defend around the contest is something we've spent a lot of time on and will continue to, it's certainly not a lack of effort," he said.
Wangaratta Rovers also showed tremendous effort, but finishing skills in the first quarter proved critical.
"We just didn't convert in front of goal and we lost confidence," coach Daryn Cresswell said.
'I think we were in front for inside 50s, but we just kept missing and they kept kicking them."
Rovers now host undefeated Lavington on Saturday.
