The 18-year-old was named by the Defence Force as Liam Wolf.
He suffered an episode of cardiac arrest when he landed partially submerged in water.
Paramedics attended and revived the recruit before he was taken by ambulance to Wagga Base Hospital.
He was later airlifted to Sydney for specialist treatment, remaining in a critical condition.
Tragically, he was pronounced dead on Tuesday.
"Defence offers its deepest condolences to [the] family and friends and ongoing welfare support is being provided to them," said a spokesperson for the Kapooka Army Base.
"Defence notes the commendable actions of those Army members and health staff involved in providing immediate first aid."
