The former VFL player was given a reprimand by the Ovens and Murray tribunal on Wednesday night after pleading guilty to striking Wangaratta Rovers' Raven Jolliffe.
Ellard, who had never been reported in his 240-match career, was reported by field umpire Hayden Pearson following an incident in the final quarter of last weekend's thriller at McNamara Reserve.
Jolliffe told the hearing minimal contact was made in the clash.
Former Werribee coach John Lamont provided Ellard with a character reference.
Ellard lives in Melbourne and didn't attend the hearing.
He has kicked 12 goals in the opening three rounds of the season and looks set to play a vital role for Myrtleford this weekend as the Saints chase a fourth victory.
