Rodney Joseph Minogue was a key suspect in the 1986 bombing of the police headquarters in Melbourne which killed Constable Angela Taylor and left 21 other people injured.
He was acquitted on appeal for being an accessory but his older brother, Craig William Minogue, remains in jail for the incident.
At some point after Rodney Minogue's acquittal - which came after he spent three years in Pentridge prison on remand - he moved to Albury.
The 52-year-old lives at a home on Butson Avenue with his wife Joanna Weber.
Both are known to Albury officers.
In his latest brush with the law, Minogue was arrested after allegedly committing two separate break-ins at properties in Albury.
The South Albury man was taken into custody by members of the Albury proactive crime team on Tuesday.
He has been charged with breaking into a house on Yambla Avenue last month.
It's alleged the break-in occurred at some point between March 21 and 25.
The 52-year-old allegedly stole a man's gold bracelet worth $900, a $500 gold wedding ring and an Oroton handbag while inside the property.
It followed an alleged break-and-enter at Clancy's Food Store in Smollett Street between January 22 and 23.
It's alleged he had intended to steal while inside the building.
Minogue appeared before Albury Local Court on Thursday.
He has been charged with two counts of break and enter with intent to commit a serious indictable offence.
He was granted bail and will return on May 14.
The 52-year-old is yet to enter a plea on the fresh charges.
