What a pity that the concert was spoiled by the incessant chatter of some of the audience. Why come to the performance if you spend most of the time in conversation?
This talk shows disrespect to the performer who spends many hours practising and is highly irritating to those around who have come to listen. Moving position is fruitless.
Please, next month stay home if you don't want to listen.
Judy Haines, Thurgoona
Thanks to community
The large turnout at the dawn service was testament to the effort put in by the sub-branch over several months to ensure that this was an inclusive community service.
There were many young children there with family members of all ages.
The street march again attracted a very large and appreciative crowd eager to applaud the veterans, school children and the emergency services as they marched past to the music of the bands under the sound of the aircraft overhead.
The crowd appreciated the bands as usual that contribute so much to our community..
The major service at 10am was again well attended and continues to provide an opportunity for the service organisations and schools to be involved in and to lay a wreath.
Additionally we thank the community for supporting the selling of badges over the Anzac period.
Please continue to support the veteran and ex-service community. I call on the younger veterans to step-up so in the future the Anzac and Remembrance Day services can continue well into the future.
We need your support.
Graham Docksey, president Albury RSL sub-branch
Make your vote count
With the collapse and disarray of the coalition in the House of Representatives, it is almost certain that the Labor party will become the next government by default. Hence, it is vital that every elector should vote to ensure that the Senate has a surfeit of members with the power to control the excesses of Labor policy.
Over the past two decades, extreme right-wing members of the Liberal party have usurped control by depriving local electorate members of their original right to select endorsed candidates - without any vote, by the way.
This has resulted in a decimation of moderate party members who came to realise they had no say in party affairs and now only functioned as slave labour to fill letterboxes and man polling booths for their overlords.
There is little doubt that we must vote to clean out the present coalition rat's nest.
We need to regenerate a group of politicians who will represent us and remove the present politicians who regard the parliament as their personal fiefdom.
But we need to retain perspective and ensure that we don't create a greater danger by allowing free reign of Labor excesses in the process.
