Co-ordinated by North East School Environment Education Directory, the May 9 event at Baarmutha Park involves students from Wooragee, Beechworth, Springhurst, St Joseph's and Kiewa Valley primary schools and Beechworth Montessori School.
SEED project officer Linda Anania said the regional workshops rotated around the North East shires and this first Beechworth one had been well supported by Indigo schools and community groups.

The activities include making boomerang bags from old T-shirts, understanding fruit fly and making traps, water filtering, sustaining biodiversity and learning about energy and electrical circuits.
Mrs Anania said the program aimed to make students and teachers more aware of environmental issues.
"Understanding the environment and how it works and just being able to make that part of their curriculum," she said.
SEED is run through a partnership with North East Catchment Management Authority and North East Waste and Resource Recovery Group.
