Sandy Mount, a 2162.8 hectare property on Corowa Road which was offered for sale for the first time in more than a century, was purchased by members of the Day family which operates a transport and storage business at Oaklands.

A secondary property of 215.4 hectares also in Corowa Road, Gunambil, has been sold to another local family whose identity cannot be disclosed presently.

The Day transport company began more than 90 years ago with founder Ted Day inducted into the National Road Transport Hall of Fame in Alice Springs.

"It is a very good property," Mr Day said of Sandy Mount.

"It had been in their family for a long time so it is a proven property.

"We are almost the neighbouring property. We are only about 400 metres from it."

The Day family already owns more than 8000 hectares in the Oaklands area and more than 4000 hectares near Deniliquin.

Mr Day is a third generation member of the family to work in the business along with brother Gavin.

Bids for the two properties in an expressions of interest sale process conducted by Corcoran Parker only closed on April 12.

"There was strong private and corporate interest," agent Mike Weller said.

"Much of the corporate interest was from large corporate companies looking to vertically integrate their current operations."

Meanwhile, the former Albury abortion clinic building in Englehardt Street is up for sale.

The building, which includes five offices, reception area and waiting room, is being sold via a tender process with bids closing on May 23.

Recent attempts to lease the property were unsuccessful.

The clinic was closed by its owner Dr Kathy Lewis in September last year soon after a NSW Government decision to create safe access zones.
