End result worth it
My young granddaughter and I visited the site of the new playground being constructed at the Lions Park/Foresters' Park area in Lavington last week and were delighted to see the scope of works being undertaken.

We are really looking forward to its completion. In an age of inactivity among younger people, how encouraging to see the prospect of an enticing place space for their future use.
I hear them cheering that their endeavours are being updated for generations to come. I congratulate the Council for their ability to seek and secure funding for these types of areas and feel sure that in consultation with the Lions Club everyone will be more than satisfied with the results.

Disappointing march
Who is responsible for the for the organization of the Anzac day march in Wodonga. Is it the RSL, the Council, or does each group do its own thing.
It appears to me to be the latter. This year's march started 10 minutes early which left people rushing to get to their appropriate groups, and in the hurry an elderly gentleman fell off his electric scooter just outside the RSL. It appeared no one knew what was going on. For example the lead rank in the Vietnam Veterans group was lead by two ladies, prams and a group of children. Now, I don't know if this family had any association to a Vietnam Vet (no medals worn) but a Collingwood jumper does not show the appropriate respect of the day.
In my 30 years of marching on ANZAC day in Wodonga this was the most disappointing. My granddaughter who had traveled from Wollongoog to march with me was unable to do so because of the early step-off time. In Melbourne the RSL does most of the organisation in close consultation with Melbourne City Council, so let's see if 2020 is a marked improvement on 2019.

Standard has dived
What is going on at the Albury-Wodonga Leisure Centre? Since the takeover there has been a decline in both the cleanliness and maintenance of the Spa and the swimming pool. The men's urinals smell all the time and are obviously not being cleaned properly, including the tiles. I am not able to comment on the female toilets.
Recently, the spa had not been operational for two weeks, with the excuses varying depending on staff and the day. Some included "can't get the part", "the Council is responsible for repairs". The heater in the main pool has been out of action recently and the water is cold. All this would suggest there has been a cut back in staff and cleaners all in the name of saving money.
It would appear from speaking to other members that the staff morale is low. One would have wonder what deal was brokered with the Albury and Wodonga councils. A lot of people I have spoken to are not happy.
As a member of the centre, am I entitled to be compensated when the spa is not working, as the spa is the only thing I use at the centre for my rehabilitation
